The Children's Garden
The Verona Park Children's Garden is situated on a gentle slope east of Verona Lake in front of the tennis courts and playground. It was opened in 2003, as a joint project of Essex County and The Verona Park Conservancy. The Garden's planting beds continue to be maintained by Conservancy volunteers under the direction and tireless efforts of Neil Moylan, with occasional help from scout troops.
The plantings consist of ornamental trees, shrubs, perennial and annual flowers, herbs and vegetables. Each year we introduce new plants and experiment with new arrangements to keep the Garden vibrant. There are benches and other places to sit and relax to give yourself the chance to muse and escape the worries of the world.
Our goal is to provide Park visitors with a place of peace, beauty and horticultural interest throughout the growing season, from April through October and to give children the opportunity to observe and appreciate the diversity of nature.
